Obituary for Jeanne Jarrett Jeanne Jarrett, age 71, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 28, 2018. A native of Miami, FL, Jeanne is a daughter of the late Jones Eli and Maxine (Whitt) Jarrett. She started working in 1967 at Prince George’s Hospital Center, which later became Dimensions Health Corporation.

She left there in 1991 to work for Professional Staff Nursing Association, affiliated with Service employees International Association Local # 1998. She and her siblings were frequent past visitors to Erwin to see their grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeanne was happy to return here after her retirement to care for her mother.

After Maxine’s passing, she became active in church activities as well as part time employment at the Unicoi County Courthouse, where she worked in the Register of Deeds office and developed many close friendships. Jeanne was a giving and welcoming person who helped anyone who was in need. She enjoyed watching football and was an avid Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins fan.

She was also a NASCAR fan, having been a distant relative of Dale Jarrett. In addition to her parents, Jeanne is preceded in death by her brother-in-law: Ralph Staubs; five cousins: Teresita, Paris, Charles, Kay and Carolyn; and numerous aunts and uncles. Jeanne Jarrett has left behind to cherish her memory: Twin sister: Joyce Staubs; Brother: Terry Jarrett; Uncle: Jerry Whitt and wife, Gay, of Unicoi; Aunt-in-law: Maxine, of Blackshear, GA, and the late Uncle Bob Whitt; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members; Special friends: J. R. and Laiken Richardson.

Also mourning her loss is Jeanne’s church family at First Christian Church in Erwin, where she served as Deacon and was a vital part of the children’s program. She was much loved by everyone at First Christian Church and a favorite of all the children whose lives she touched while serving there. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Jeanne Jarrett in a memorial service to be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.

Dr. Todd Edmundson and Reverend Andy Frazier will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Rob Meier. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM and will continue until service time on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jeanne’s name to First Christian Church, 307 South Main Avenue, Erwin, TN 37650 Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.
