Nazzaro November 14, 1931 – January 08, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Somerville, NJ- Jeremiah T. “Jerry” Nazzaro, 87, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Gerard and Eleanor (nee Philbin) Nazzaro, he then resided in Iselin, NJ after marriage, and retired to Manchester, NJ, in 1999 but also loved taking long trips to a vacation home in Palm Harbor, FL. Jerry faithfully served his country with the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War.

He had over thirty years of dedicated employment with Western Electric in Kearny, NJ as a technician, retiring in 1981. He also co-owned and operated a small catering business with his best friend Ed Kalitan. Family and friends were of the utmost importance to Jerry; time spent with them especially his wife, cherished grandchildren, and adored great grandson brought him great joy.

Golfing and travel were also favorite pastimes of Jerry. He traveled extensively to the West Coast of Florida. Jerry’s Catholic faith was very important to him; he was a past parishioner of St. Cecelia Church in Iselin and St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Lakehurst, NJ while living in Manchester.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at both churches. Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan (nee Sullivan) Nazzaro; and sister, Jeannine Nazzaro. Jerry is survived by four loving children, Janeen and her husband Randal Smith of Stockton, NJ, Lisa and husband Frank Young of Stockton, Brian Nazzaro and his wife Jessica of Morganville, NJ, and Gerard Nazzaro and his wife Tammy of Glen Burnie, MD; dear sister, Linda Nazzaro; nine cherished grandchildren, Ryan Smith and his wife Stella, Kelly and her husband Eduardo Rabelo, Christian Smith, Erica Nazzaro, Rachael Nazzaro, Michael Nazzaro, Jada Nazzaro, Ashley Young, and Austin Young; and an adored great grandson, Ryan Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Monday, January 14 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecelia Church, 45 Wilus Way, Iselin, NJ 08830. Military honors and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date yet to be determined at the mausoleum in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in Woodbridge, NJ.
