Jerome Fishkin, 91, of Bradford, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1926 in Franklin, a son of the late Abraham and Katherine Fishkin. On February 28, 1954 in Baltimore, MD, he married Alice Manacher, who survives.
He was a graduate of the Bradford Area High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II in the Pacific Theater… Read More » and was honorable discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. He was President of the Waverly Marketing Group; serving military exchanges worldwide.
He was also president of Whitehall Fashions of Baltimore, MD. He was a former president of the Bradford Exchange Club, a member of the Bradford Club and a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon Light and W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery. He was a life-long member of Temple Beth El.
He was also an alumnus of St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, NY. In celebration of the Sesquicentennial Celebration of St. Bonaventure University the University presented the President’s 150th Anniversary Award to Jerome Fishkin and his late brother Jack for their donation of a Mayan Art collection to the University in 1982; where it is displayed at the Quick Art Center for the Arts. He was instrumental in honoring Ralph Lauren for his contribution to preserving America’s heritage by preserving the American Flag of 1812.
He was also responsible in designing protective knee pads for the armed forces. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Alice Fishkin of Bradford, he is also survived by one son, Steven (Kye) Fishkin of Bradford; two grandsons, Justin and Aaron Fishkin of Bradford; one granddaughter, Dana Ryan of Colorado Springs, CO; three great grandsons, Cooper, Mason and Gavin Ryan of Colorado Springs; one brother, Richard Fishkin and one sister, Charlene Green. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marlene Berkowitz; two brothers, Jack and Maurice Fishkin and two sisters, Vera Shear and Florence Neu.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. with funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 with Kimberly Weinberg, President of Temple Beth El, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the McKean County SPCA, P.O. Box 113, Bradford, PA 16701 or Evergreen Elm, 50 Main St., Bradford, PA 16701.
