Joan E. Mechalske, 77, of Owings Mills, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at home with her family by her side. Born November 6, 1940 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Catherine M. (Montgomery) Green. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth J. Mechalske, Sr., her husband of 57 years.

Joan was a devoted and active member in her church, Harvest Church of God, helping with food banks and other volunteer projects. Mechalske, Jr., of Westminster and Kimberly Brightful of Owings Mills; siblings Stella May Green and Ethel P. Pierce, both of Westminster; grandchildren Justin (Angela) Mechalske, Harold (Allyson) Brightful, Jr., Corey Mechalske, Kayla Brightful and Breana Brightful, great grandchildren Harrison Mechalske ,Landon Brightful, Ameerah Taylor, Jaxon Brightful, Lucas Mechalske , and Serienty Robinson; nieces Debbie Knights and Autumn Green and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by siblings Catherine I. Boyd, Sonny Green and Louis Green. The family will welcome friends on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 3 to 8pm at Harvest Church of God, 605 Westminster Pike. , Reisterstown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at church with visitation an hour prior to service. Interment will be held in Lorraine Park Cemetery. Donations to defray funeral cost may be made to the funeral home.
