Joan’s Obituary Joan Marie (Kiefer) DeBoer, 76, of Bangor, PA suffered from a sudden stroke and passed away on March 10th, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA. Joan was born in Harmony, NJ on November 9, 1942, a daughter of the late Dorothy (Cole) Kiefer and George Kiefer, Sr. Joan was a 1960 graduate of Bangor High School. On March 4th, 1961 she was united in marriage to John DeBoer and they resided in Bangor, PA for the last 58 years.

Joan and John were dairy farmers in the Bangor area until 1986 while raising 5 children. After retiring from farming, together they owned and operated the Painted Lady in Belvidere NJ and more recently Blue Roof Antiques in Ackermanville. Her lifelong hobby was to collect beautiful Victorian antiques and brag about her 12 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren that live across the country.

Joan was full of life and the rock of the entire family! She loved cooking, tea parties at her house and visiting her family. Joan was a beautiful, strong and compassionate person who was loved by everyone She was a member of the Belvidere Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belvidere, NJ.

In addition to her husband, John, Joan is survived by 5 children: Heidi Hodge, (David), of Iowa City, IA; Holli Jones, (Wayne), of Buffalo, WY; John DoBoer, (Erika Stofflet) of Bangor, PA; Hope Horn, (Keith), of Bangor, PA; she also raised her youngest sister Heleen Parker of Allentown, 12 grandchildren: Rachael, Weston, Kalvin, Rebecca, David, Krystal, Kelli, Russell, Grace, Gavin, Garrett & Carter, and 10 great-grandchildren: Reagan, Levi, Adrienne, Camden, Everly, Carson, Drake, Jack, Charlee, Tripp and 2 more on the way! Joan is also survived by two sisters, Shelba Fogel, (Howard), Heleen Parker and two brothers, George Kiefer, Jr., and Terry Lee Kiefer, husband of (Doris). Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 18th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, “Village of Johnsonville” Bangor, PA.

Family and friend are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, March 17th and from 10 to 11 AM on Monday, March 18th at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Church Hill Cemetery, Martins Creek, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.
