Obituary for Joene Casey Joene Casey was born to Almon and Pearl Grimes Burch on October 11, 1921 in Katie, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on September 22, 2018. Joene was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jean Burch; her sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Milton Landis; her brother- in-law, Daniel Sahmaunt; and two nephews, Jerry Burch and Jay Sahmaunt.

She is survived by her sister Fern Sahmaunt of Anadarko and 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Joene was a member of First Baptist Church of Elmore City for 75 years where she played the piano and organ, sang in the choir and was treasurer of her Sunday school class. She was active in Eastern Star and often served as organist.

She served her country during WWII working seven days a week as a riveter at Tinker Field. She owned and operated her beauty shop for many years. She has many treasured friends from church and the community.

Joene was never angry or judgmental toward anyone. She is much loved by her family who is blessed with many good memories of time spent with her. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Fern, and her nieces and nephews: Dana Stevens and husband, Tony, Katie Sahmaunt and husband, David Otero, Kim Sahmaunt and husband, Jay Stafford, Mark Sahmaunt and wife, Amy, Andrea Sahmaunt-Tiger and husband, Drew, Jim Burch and wife, Chirl, Susan Elkins and husband, William, Sarah Galyon and husband, Robert, Rebecca Perkins and husband, Ricky, David Landis and wife, Lucy, Kurt Landis and wife, Pam.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Elmore City with Rev. Danny Reed officiating. Interment will be in the Katie Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
