John M. Cook died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 20, 2018 at his home. John was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Elsie and James Cook on November 22, 1951. He married Shirley on October 9, 1971; they just celebrated 47 years of marriage.

John grew up hunting and fishing, and trapping in Northern Minnesota. He loved the outdoors, and he loved hunting for treasures at garage sales and auctions. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and grandparents.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Bob (Kellie) of Fairbanks, AK; daughters, Melinda of Fairbanks and Jayme (Sheldon) Eckman of Randall, Minnesota. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Eva, Gage, Garrett, and Tucker. A private graveside service will be held in Remer, Minnesota.
