Obituary of John Ingalls John C. Ingalls, age 84, of Corning, NY went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. John was born on January 9, 1934 in Mansfield, PA to Lester and Clara (Slocum) Ingalls. He was a graduate of Northside High School, Corning Community College, and Elmira College.

He spent a couple years traveling out west to distribute Bibles. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years and married Pauline VanEtten on December 12, 1959 at North Baptist Church. John worked for Corning Incorporated for over 35 years and retired in 1991 as a fire protection engineer.

He was an avid softball player, bowler, golfer, and loved attending sporting events. John was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In the years when his memory began to fade, he continued to always have a smile on his face and was always eager to go for a ride and get his favorite ice cream: Maple Walnut.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter, Deborah (Marc) Prutsman of Corning; sons, Denis (Kristy) Ingalls of Wilmington, NC and Daryl (Margaret) Ingalls of Greensburg, PA; sister, Judy (Jeff) Seger of Winnabow, NC; sister-in-law, Connie Ingalls Lavash of Danville, NH; grandchildren, Zachary (Stephanie), Ethan, Lindsey, Anna, and Trevor; great granddaughter, Liliana Ingalls; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his siblings, Janice Preston, Jim and Joel Ingalls. A calling hour will be held on Sunday January 6th from 2 – 3 PM at North Baptist Church, 127 Sly Avenue in Corning where services will follow at 3:00 PM.

Burial will be in Addison Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s name to North Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.
