John C. Wenzler, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on August 2, 1935 in Daviess County, KY to the late Romi Wenzler and Flora Gebhardt Wenzler. John was an electrician with IBEW Local 1701 for 43 years and was an U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and a Union member. John enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball, spending time with his family, being a jokester and having coffee every morning at the Union Hall. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Tillman Baker; his sister, Romaine Scholl and a grandson, Lucas T. Ward.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Viola Wenzler; his sons, Carl Ward (Michelle) of Owensboro, John Wenzler Jr. of Grapevine, TX and Curt Wenzler (Gay) of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Janell Ward Greathouse (Albert) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jeremy Easler, Jacob Ward, Mitchell Wenzler and Madison Wenzler; and a great-grandson, Lucas J. Ward. Services will be private. Visitation is from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
