John D. McCormick, 53, of Owensboro, died on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Utica. He was born April 24, 1965 in Owensboro to the late Royce C. and Nancy Davis McCormick. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church.

John enjoyed hunting, boating, racquetball, making people smile, giving nicknames to his friends, and could grow the best sweet corn around! He also enjoyed September 1st dove hunt and growing sunflowers. John could fix and build anything and enjoyed helping others.

His kids, Riley and Connor, and his dog, Memphis, were his pride and joy. His smile, love, and humor will be greatly missed! Survivors include his daughter, Riley Elizabeth McCormick of Denver, CO; son, Connor Dodson McCormick of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Royce “Bub” McCormick, Jr. (Nancy); sisters, Ginny Gatton (Duane) of Oakland City, IN and Sabrina Coke (Steve) of Louisville; nieces and nephews, Hanna Bailey (Travis), Alison Gatton, Luke Gatton, Miranda McCormick and Bentley Coke; great-nieces, Avery Bailey and Zoey Bailey; and Granny and Paul Smith of Owensboro.

Services will be at 6 p.m. on Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Panther Creek Baptist Church, 7146 Highway 431, Owensboro, KY 42301 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
