Johnny Lee Quimby August 16, 1951 – April 27, 2018 I am writing this obituary to remember my brother, Johnny Quimby. He was tall, lanky and had long hair. He had a sweet smile, a soft voice and kind heart.

He was my brother long before he was an addict. He was the fourth of six children born during the union of Charles R. Quimby and Anita J. Quimby on August 16, 1951. His life of 66 years came to a peaceful ending on April 27, 2018 as a result of serious complications from a heroin overdose.

Fortunately, someone from the drug house called 911 and he was brought to the hospital. This allowed our family to have time with him over the past four weeks that we have not had in the last few years. He is survived by his sister Terry Beth Kilgas and brothers Richard A. Quimby and Charles R. Quimby, Jr

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Michael Quimby and his sister Patti Jo Quimby and his nephew Joel Christopher Kinney. He was fortunate to be blessed with many nieces and nephews and multiple great nieces and nephews. He is survived by three biological children, two other children who looked to him as a father and twelve grandchildren.

He was a hippie in the sixties who enjoyed the original “Woodstock” and attended many concerts of the great talent of his generation. The Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Willie Nelson, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Led Zeppelin and the Jefferson Airplanes. My brother was a very hard worker and was often a leader in his various general and skilled labor positions during his lifetime.

He was very intelligent and reading was always his great escape. He has read everything from multiple books of Greek Mythology, Stephen King mysteries, and John Grisham novels. Unfortunately, his drug addiction controlled his life for many, many years.

The addiction takes over and destroys your mind and the most meaningful relationships in your life. It takes away everything that matters most in your life.
