Josephine G. “Jo” Wagoner, 84 of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at her home. Jo was born on February 13, 1934 in DuQuoin, Illinois; the daughter of the late William Harry and Kathryn Gertrude (Mendenall) Flauaus. Jo was a school teacher in the Granite City School District who started her career teaching the 3rd grade at Marshall and Mitchell Elementary Schools.

Jo then went on to teach remedial reading at Emerson School as well as teaching at Lake and McKinley Schools. Jo was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Collinsville and Illinois Teachers Federation. Jo will be remembered for the many children’s lives she touched through teaching and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.

Jo is survived by and will be missed by her daughters; Kathleen Fleming of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Kathryn (Mark) Mozley of St. Louis, Missouri; granddaughters; Katie Mozley of St. Louis, Missouri, Kara Mozley of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Marie Haas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other close family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband; Robert F. Wagoner, whom she married on August 22, 1959; son-in-law, Larry Fleming. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Sherman Smith officiating at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates. Memorial donations are suggested to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or the Special Olympics. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Josephine Wagoner, please visit our Tribute Store.
