Bruno “Brownie” Michael Kuca, age 88, of Madison, IL, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Clayton, MO. Bruno was born on January 27, 1930 in East St. Louis, IL, a son of the late John Kuca Sr. and Berniece (Gawalek) Kuca. Bruno was a Korean War combat veteran who proudly served in the United States Army.

On October 22, 1955, Bruno married Dorothy Lapinski, the love of his life, at St. Mary Catholic Parish in Madison, IL. He was a faithful member of St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Parish (Our Lady of Czestochowa), Madison, IL, Stanislaus Polish Lodge 1004, Madison, IL and the Polish American War Veterans, Caseyville, IL; In his younger years, Bruno enjoyed playing 3rd base for various baseball leagues in the area. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Bruno loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Bruno was preceded in death by one brother, John Kuca Jr.; and by his sisters, Josephine Kuca, Mary Ann Kuca and Rose Ann Williams.

He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy Kuca of Madison, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Theresa Kuca of O’Fallon, IL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Stephen Dudak of Granite City, IL; proud uncle to Frank (Kelly) Kuca, James (Susan) Kuca, Steven Kuca, Arlene (Roger) Martin, Phil Dudak and Pam (Mark) Hessler; proud great-uncle to Andi Hessler, Ryan Hessler, Ryan Martin, Blake Martin, Jessica Kuca, Allison (Chad) Bartholemew, Alex Kuca and August Kuca; extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, a funeral masss will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Parish (Our Lady of Czestochowa) in Madison, IL, with Father Jeff Holtman officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL. Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Parish or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel and church.
