Hans B. Seemiller, age 78, of Granite City, IL, passed away at his sons home on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Hans was born on April 24, 1940 in Canonsburg, PA, a son of the late Joseph Seemiller Sr. and Mary (Willig) Seemiller. Hans was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country.

On April 8, 1960, Hans married Sylvia Hollis, the love of his life, in St. Louis, MO. Sylvia passed away on August 20, 2016. Hans was a faithful member of GCFirst Assembly of God in Granite City, IL.

He retired from Granite City Steel as a supervisor in the Round House. Hans was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a jack of all trades.

He could fix or build just about anything he put his mind to. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he adored. Hans will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Hans was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy O’Gara Sr. and by a great-grandson, Jeremy O’Gara Jr He is survived by his loving children, Harold Ray (Linda) Smallie of Pontoon Beach, IL, Sharon (Ronald) Gregory of Mitchell, IL, Lynette (Lloyd “Ray”) Vaughn and Jeffrey (Cheryl) Seemiller of Granite City, IL; brother, Joseph Seemiller Jr. of Chicago, IL; proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Rich Smallie officiating. Hans will be laid to rest next to Sylvia at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL. Memorial donations may be given to GCFirst Assembly of God.
