Judith Kay (Baney) Smith-Onderdonk November 11 1949-September 27, 2018 Mishawaka-Judith Kay (Baney) Smith-Onderdonk, 68, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Hospice House in South Bend. Judith was born to Wayne and Norma (Montague) Baney on November 11, 1949 in South Bend. She was a lifelong resident of South Bend/Mishawaka.

She graduated from LaSalle High School and earned her Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, at the University of Arkansas. She worked for the State of Indiana as a Rehabilitation Teacher for the Blind and visually impaired for 30 years, then worked for Bosma Industries. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vickie Ann Bely.

Surviving are her husband, John E. Onderdonk of Mishawaka; daughter, Sylvia (Frank) Minder of South Bend; two grandchildren, Otis C. Rowe of South Bend and Perry J. Rosebush of Alta, UT; four great grandchildren, Marcus, Cameron, Dominic and Aniyah; sister, Becky J. (Vern) Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI and brother, Thomas Baney of South Bend; three nieces and two nephews. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Eleanor Onderdonk; sisters-in-law, Irene. Deb (Wally), Marge; brothers-in-law, Bill and Ralph (Kara).

Judy loved her family and was a devoted wife. She enjoyed spending time with family. She loved going to the Kentucky Derby with her husband; she enjoyed trips on the train to Chicago with her friends and daughter.

Over the years she also enjoyed volunteering at Reins of Life and the SOS hot line. Visitation will be on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m., with funeral service at 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
