Obituary of Justin Mendenhall Justin Taubert Mendenhall, 39, of Charlotte and New York City, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy, Charlotte. Mr. Mendenhall was born in Wake County, on January 26, 1979, son of Karl J. and Shirley (Stephens) Mendenhall. Justin was a three-star Michelin Chef, and was a partner in the Café Monte French Bistro, Charlotte.

He was also employed by J W Demolition, Charlotte. Justin loved New York City, the Yankees and going to the beach. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Collie Wayne Mendenhall, maternal grandparents, Bruton and Myrtle Ellen Stephens.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley (Stephens) Mendenhall, of Charlotte; a brother, Grayson Karl Mendenhall and wife, Megan of Durham; a sister: Caroline Mendenhall of Charlotte nieces, Maddy Laneve and Elena D. Mendenhall; nephews, Karl J. Mendenhall II and Caedon P. Weaver; paternal grandparents, Aubrey and Marguerite Mendenhall of Durham; Aunts, Brenda Stephens and Kathy Willis and husband, Jeff; and uncle, Barry W. Stephens; and girlfriend, Dawn Hahn, of Charlotte. . The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Plainfield Friends Meeting, 1956 Plainfield Church Road, Siler City with Kevin Rollins officiating.

The family will recieve friends afterward in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes, 648 Griffith Road, Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28217.
