Karen’s Obituary Karen Crosby Sinclair born on August 8, 1955 has had a permanent change of address as of January 16th. She had a long and courageous six-year fist fight with cancer. As she took her last breaths on this earth, she was surrounded by family that loved her endlessly.

A life long Maine resident, who spent her childhood in Scarborough and then eventually moving to Portland with her family where she graduated from Deering High School in 1973. Karen met the love of her life, David Sinclair, in the early months of her freshman year of college and after a ride on his motorcycle she never looked back. David and Karen recently celebrated 45 years together this past fall.

Together they shared three children and Karen a loving stepmother to a son. They also shared a cabin in the woods, a few million laughs, a handful of arguments, and a lifetime of memories. David and she settled in South Portland on a dead end street in a house for their family that became a house to so many.

Karen worked as a teacher’s aide in the mid 80’s at Small School in South Portland for a number of years. She had a knack for knowing what teachers needed and when to pretend to throw kids in the trash cans. A memory that grown adults still smile and reminisce about to this day.

After her time at Small School, Karen worked at the gift shop at the airport for a number of years but when celebrities stopped flying in so frequently she moved on. She landed a job at Legion Square Market in Knightville in South Portland where she worked for over 17 years. It’s there at legion square where she really became known in the community as the friendliest worker this side of the bridge.

Karen had many friends and no enemies. Anyone who knew her, knew her heart was full of love for everyone. She was compassionate, accepting, so very protective and most of all, she was tough.

Her smile was warm, her eyes told stories and her hugs were infectious. She is predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents, her parents Herbert and Joan Crosby, her brother Rob Crosby and her son-in-law Dan Albert. She is survived by her doting husband of 45 years, David, his son Jamie and his two sons Gauge and Keith; Karen and David’s children Jason Sinclair, Alisha Albert and her two sons Baely Ames and David Albert and step daughter Shelby Gonzales her husband Blake and their two children Avery and Zenith; Maegan Healy, her husband Kevin, and their three children Easton, Shea, and Lucy.

She is also survived by her brothers Ron Crosby, Herb Crosby, and his wife Toni; and her sister Kathy Locke; her father-in-law Don Sinclair; and many cousins nieces, and nephews. As Karen would say to all, Peace Love and Sunshine. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday January 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hobbs Funeral Home 230 Cottage Road South Portland, ME 04106.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church 580 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine 04101. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Karen’s life following the service on Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Grace 15 Chestnut Street Portland, ME 04101.
