Obituary for Karla Rae Zimdars Karla Rae Zimdars, age 49, of Beach, North Dakota passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Dickinson, North Dakota at St. Luke’s after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Silha Funeral Home in Beach. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach with Father Dan Berg officiating. Rite of Committal will take place following services. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Karla was born on August 12, 1968 in Glendive, Montana to Richard and Yvette (Stafne) Zimdars. She attended Lincoln Elementary School in Beach and graduated from Beach High School with the class of 1986. Karla attended Dawson Community College in Glendive on a basketball scholarship and then transferred to Dickinson State University where she continued her basketball career.
She graduated from DSU with an education and coaching degree. Karla then went to work at Home on the Range, where she worked until the time of her death. Karla became an advocate for the children she worked with and made an impact not only in their lives, but on the lives of everyone she met.
In 2001, her dream of becoming a mother was fulfilled when Madison Jordan was born. Karla found pride and joy in spending time with Madison and guiding her in all of her achievements. She also loved, supported and encouraged her nieces and nephews in all that they did.
Karla was bigger than life itself and was loved by and touched the lives of everyone she met. Karla was preceded in death by her maternal and fraternal grandparents and her brother-in-law, Paul Esterby. Karla is survived by her daughter, Madison; her parents Dick and Yvette of Beach; her brother, Kevin (Conda) of Fort Davis, TX; her sisters, Kim (Kevin) of Dickinson, ND, Kelly Esterby of Polson, MT, Kathy (Bob) of Helena, MT and Kerri of Dickinson, ND; her nieces and nephews whom she loved so dearly, Travis, Austin, Clayton, Kyla, Kristi, Christian, Jillian, Shannon, Kea; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and her Home on the Range family and special friends.
