OBITUARY Katherine Savard November 3, 1942 – October 31, 2018 Katherine (Zito) Savard, of Hartford, formerly of West Hartford and Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on November 3, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Barbara (Clark) Zito. Kathie was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford and earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from UConn.

She retired from the State of CT Department of Children and Youth Services, where she worked for 33 years. An avid cross-country skier and hiker, she was happiest spending time at her vacation home in Peru, Vermont, where she loved entertaining friends and family. For the past five years, she was an active member of the Avery Heights community, participating in the theatrical group, various committees, trips, activities, and especially enjoyed the swimming pool and exercise classes offered to their residents.

Kathie was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and she enjoyed watching UConn Men’s and Woman’s basketball teams. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Avery Heights Assisted Living team who enriched the quality of her life and to the Hartford Hospital Bliss Wing 11th Floor Stepdown Unit for their remarkable care and concern. Kathie is survived by her two sisters, Judi Gilligan and her husband Bob and Lu St. Germain and her husband Rob, both of Wethersfield.

She is also survived by her nephew, Keith St. Germain and her three nieces, Sarah St. Germain Smith, Beth Gilligan and Holly Gilligan. She was always appreciative of the love and support she received from extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Kathie was predeceased by her beloved step-mother, Ann Zito.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday (November 17) at 11 A.M. at Immanuel Congregational Church, 10 Woodland St., Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathie’s memory may be made to the National M.S. Society CT Chapter, 659 Tower Avenue, Hartford, CT 06112 – for research of Primary Progressive MS.
