Katheryn Louise (Wahlin) Vestal September 20, 1930 – December 17, 2018 Our Dear Mamma passed away peacefully on December 17, 2018 in Great Falls, Montana surrounded by family. Katheryn Louise was born to her loving parents Oscar Houtz Wahlin and Marie Clark on September 20, 1930 in Scofield, Utah. Married Kenneth Cook October 23, 1948 and later divorced and later married John D Taylor June 11, 1966 and later divorced.

Mama loved her blended family dearly; Brother, Gary Hammond (Cathy) Utah, Children; Bryon Cook (Cara) California, Michael Cook (Melanie) California, Misty Nelson (Steve) Montana, Myra Lehman (Jay) Montana, Annette Martinez Texas, Leslie Taylor Clifton (Ralph) Utah, Robert Taylor (Michelle) Tennessee. Dianna Taylor Douglas Oregon, Yvonne Taylor (Arnold) Idaho, Tracy Taylor Farley (Roger) Tennessee, Teresa Taylor Trujillo (Sid) Utah. Mama was a proud Grandmother of 33, with 63 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Katheryn Louise enjoyed many years of employment at South Weber Job Corp through mentoring, educating, and positively impacting the lives of many youth in Weber County; while verbalizing the influence the youth had on her life. Furthering her career, Katheryn worked as a Senior Companion at Weber County Human Services, assisting the elderly and handicapped individuals whom loved her immensely. Louise spent many years in the service to her fellow man and women by mentoring, sponsoring and befriending many individuals out of drug and alcohol addiction and into a healthy lifestyle.

She led many people to the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, changing their lives forever. She found homeless families and individuals’ roofs in which to lay their heads, while providing many hugs or an extra hand without wanting or expecting anything in return. Mom loved traveling, spending time with family camping, enjoying time outdoors and watching birds, squirrels, deer and especially the quails in her yard.

Her laugh, smiles and endearing nature were infectious, and she was loved by everyone she knew and met. Mama spent endless hours with love cooking for family and friends, and everyone that knew mama treasured her homemade chili and scones (NEVER SCONE ALONE! ).

Mom is preceded in death by her loving parents; Oscar Houtz Wahlin, Marie Clark Hammond and Delbert Hammond. Siblings; Dee Wahlin, Ronnie Hammond, Debra Hammond, Donald Hammond, Kay Peterson and Carol Williamson. Grand Children; Nikki Kindred, Roark Cook, Glade Taylor and Great Grandson; Kenneth Dwello.

Celebration of her Life will be held at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah with a viewing to be held Thursday evening January 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and January 11 from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. Her Celebration will begin at 11:45am also at Myers Mortuary.

Interment to be held at the Ogden City Cemetery 20th and Madison Ogden, Utah following the celebration. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in her name to your local Hospice or an Alzheimer Foundation. Special Thanks Benefits Peace Hospice of Great Falls Montana.
