Kay’s Obituary QUEENSBURY — Kay F. Nicholson, 82, of Queensbury passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, January 18, 2019. Born April 3, 1936, in Kingsbury, Kay was the daughter of Arthur Underwood and Mabel Farley. Kay graduated from high school in 1953 and married Richard Nicholson on November 26, 1955 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Kay was a loving homemaker and a hardworking substitute postal carrier. She was also a skilled secretary for Koffee Klatcher League for over 50 years. Kay was an avid reader who enjoyed bowling, game shows, playing cards, solving puzzles, and going out to lunch with her classmates.

Kay was also a member of Ladies of St. Anne and a former member of Home Bureau. Kay and Richard had a strong, loving, and successful marriage for 63 years. Kay had the strength to raise seven children and was fortunate enough to watch her 18 grandchildren grow into exceptional preteens and young adults.

She also enjoyed spending time with her five great-grandchildren. Kay was always there for her family and continuously supported them in their dreams and endeavors. Kay was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother, she was considered a “second mother” to her children’s friends.

Kay and Richard both welcomed guests into their home with open arms, always offering a good meal and great company. In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her granddaughter, Ashley Fazio; her sister, Jean Harrold, and her brother, Herman Underwood. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Nicholson; son, Craig (Lisa) Nicholson; six daughters, Terry (Jay) Fazio, Carol (Terry) Brown, Nancy Nicholson, Cheryl (Mike) Moehringer, Tina (John) Dzialo, Christine (Brian) Cohen; grandchildren, Alexis (Chris) Connor, Alec Fazio, Joel (Danielle) Brown, Jared (Kim) Brown, Shaun and Connor Nicholson, Nicole Wilson, Brittany (Matt) Bono, Andrea and Austin Moehringer, John, Jessica, Nicholas and Samuel Dzialo, Joshua, Jacob and Rachel Cohen; five great-grandchildren, Trentyn Wilson, Olivia Brown and Max Brown, Abby Brown, and Aidan Connor; sister, Lena Coon; In-laws, Cork and Len Daly, and her cat, Sassy.

Calling hours will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Church of St. Mary’s-St. Paul’s, 11 Wall Street, Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Tom Babiuch officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In loving memory of Kay, contributions may be made to the SPCA, 121 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
