Obituary for Larry James Hughey Larry Hughey of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Piedmont, MO, passed away, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Hospice Garden Center in St. Petersburg. He was born September 10, 1948 in Poplar Bluff, MO to parents Jimmy and Bonnie (Ward) Hughey. Larry graduated from Piedmont High School in 1966.

He then attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau where he met Mary Viox of St, Genevieve, MO, and both received their bachelor’s degrees. Larry and Marry were united in marriage, February 6, 1971 at the United Methodist Church of Piedmont, MO and were blessed with two daughters. Larry was a passionate cook, caterer, pianist, and a car enthusiast.

In his earlier years he owned and operated Hugo’s Restaurant and Catering business in St. Louis. He was a long-time member of the Metropolitan Community Church of St. Petersburg, where he especially enjoyed ushering as well as serving his church in other various ways. He is preceded in death by both his parents.

Larry is survived by his daughters: Christine Buffa and husband Tony of St. Charles, MO, Stephanie Hughey of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren: Trinity Hughey, Dean, Gino, and Vinny Buffa; brother: Bob Hughey and wife Martha of Godfrey, IL; nieces: Jennifer Hughey of Chicago, IL and Julie Elson of Edwardsville, IL; cousin: Shirley Ross and daughter Shannon of Washington, DC, and special childhood friend Patricia Allen of Piedmont, MO. Many other family members, friends and a host of friends in St. Petersburg, FL. A Memorial visitation will be held at 10:30 am on November 3, 2018 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, MO.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 am also at the Piedmont Chapel. Pastor Pete Ruble will minister to the family. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, MO.

Memorial may be given to choice of charity.
