Obituary for LARRY HILL Larry Joseph Hill, 58, of Millie St., Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 16, 2018 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain with his loving wife at his side following a short battle with cancer. Larry was born July 31, 1959 in Glendale, CA to Marvin and Judy (Marcotte) Hill. The family moved to Chicago and finally settled in Negaunee, with Larry graduating from Negaunee High School, Class of 1977.

Following graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. He proudly served in the 2nd Armored Division, Field Artillery – “Hell on Wheels,” from 1977 until being honorably discharged in 1980. After his service to his country, Larry led an adventurous life.

He bounced around between the UP, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 2003, he purchased a small piece of land in Lake Royale, NC which he called home until July, 2014. While living there, he met his current wife serendipitously via the internet.

One innocent comment about fishing led to their marriage on July 22, 2015. Their time together was brief, but each moment was enjoyed. Larry loved his wife, his family and friends, and nature.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. While doing these activities, he had no cares and was in his element. If the activities weren’t possible, sitting in the sun with a cup of coffee was just as good.

Surviving are his wife, WendySue Miljour-Hill; two children: Jenna Isaacson of Escanaba and Jacob Isaacson of Bark River; two step-daughters: Amber Johnson of Rosholt, WI and Porchia Miljour of St. Petersburg, FL; his brother and sister, Troy Hill of Rocky Mount, NC and Stephanie Hill-Davis of Nashville, NC; father- and mother-in-law, Gerald and Darlene Miljour of Suomi Location; brother- and sister-in-law, Brad and Melanie Hallum of North Pole, AK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin Hill in 1994 and Judy Cooper in 2014; and two brothers: Jay Hill in 1996 and Ron Hill in 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, June 22nd at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating.

Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday. Pallbearers will be Gary Manty, Troy, Matthew and Dylan Hill, and Grayson and Zane Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Larry’s memory to the Chocolay Raptor Center, 146 Lakewood Lane, Marquette, MI 49855.
