Laverne Cogburn Terry, age 88, of Mount Ida, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. She was born on October 8, 1929, in Hopper, the daughter of Henry Pat Cogburn and Cora Mae Garrett Cogburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Terry; her parents; five brothers, Ernest Cogburn, Loyd Cogburn, Earl Cogburn, Clifton Cogburn and R. B. Cogburn; three sisters, Myrtis Whisenhunt, Ellen Hensley and Edna Hardin; and two stepsons, Leon Terry and Greg Terry.

She was Pentecostal in her faith and was a member of Faith Tabernacle in Mount Ida. She worked for many years at the glove factory and the shoe factory and was a housewife. Laverne loved to cook, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Markham of Mountain Pine; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David James of Mount Ida; one stepson, Jeff Terry of DeQueen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Faith Tabernacle with Bro. Don Vaughn officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood. Interment will be in the Mount Ida Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Ponder, Mark Plyler, Gary James, Allen James, Wade Whisenhunt and David James.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home. Guest registry is at www. davis-smith.com.
