LAWRENCE EUGENE “GENE” CAPEHART, age 71, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 12:43 p.m. at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born on July 18, 1947 in Muskingum County to Lawrence Ray Jr. and Betty Lou Taylor Capehart Bell. He was a 1965 graduate of Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio.

Gene proudly served his county in the US Army from 1965 to 1968. He then attended Southern State Community College where he obtained a degree in Computer Technology. Gene had been employed at Clinton Memorial Hospital where he worked in information technology.

He attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Greenfield. He enjoyed going to church, fishing, and being with his family and grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Elliott Bell; and brother, Bradley Bell.

Survivors include his children, Rebecca Wagner, Tammy (Hugo) Echevarria, Lawrence (Devon) Capehart, Jeremy Capehart, Angela Capehart, Kelly Capehart, Kari Hunter, Emilie Capehart, and Daniel Capehart; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Joe (Sharon) Capehart. The graveside service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highlawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home.
