Obituary for Leah Jean “Jeanne” Morris Bluefield, WV – Leah Jean “Jeanne” Morris age 80, of Bluefield, WV and formerly of Milton, WV died Saturday February 24, 2018 following a long illness. Born May 21, 1937 in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Tony Lotito and Rena Peraldo Lotito. Jean was a graduate of Bluefield High School and Concord College.

She earned her master’s degree at Marshall University. A long time educator, she began her career at Wade Elementary in Bluefield in the mid 1960’s. In the early 1980’s, she taught at Spring Hill Elementary in Huntington Culloden Elementary.

Following her retirement from public schools, she became the supervisor for student teachers at Marshall University. She and her late husband John were prominent in the political and social scenes throughout their 30-plus years in the Huntington area. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Morris in 2010.

Surviving are sons Tony Morris (Patty Compton) of Bluefield, WV and Chris Morris (Tonya) of Roanoke, VA; brother Tony (Dusky Lotito, Jr. (Rosemary) of Pounding Mill, VA,; daughter in law Karen Morris of York, SC; grandchildren Brittany Naumann of Huntington, WV, John Morris of Cincinnati, OH, Bill Morris of Clemson, SC and Sara Morris of York, SC; great grandsons Christian and Carter Naumann of Huntington, WV; in addition to several nieces, nephews and cousins; caregiver Linda Fox, and her beloved dog Korie. The family will welcome friends on Friday March 2, 2018 for a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Huntington at 3:30 p.m. with Fr. Paul Yuenger officiating.

There will be a Celebration of Life at First Presbyterian Church, Bluefield, WV, on Sunday March 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Barb Hopta leading services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the local Humane Society. Those wishing to share memories or condolence messages with the family may do so by visiting www.
