Obituary for Leon N. Ward Leon N. Ward, 69, of Comstock passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018. To honor Leon’s wishes, cremation was chosen there will be no services at this time. Leon was born on December 25, 1948 in Burwell, son of John and Helen (Rose) Ward, and twin brother of Leonard.

Leon grew up north of Grand Island, he moved with his family several times to follow his mother’s teaching career. He graduated from St. Paul High School. On July 28, 1969, Leon was united in marriage to Charlotte Plock.

They made their home in St. Libory and surrounding communities before settling in Comstock. Leon was employed by the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, the Ord Quiz, a supervisor at Delicious Foods, and lastly was the supervisor for the water and roads division for the City of Comstock. The most important and favorite job was being a full time Grandpa.

Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing. Leon was a dedicated Grandpa and loved all the time he spent with Levi and Lacy. He was a dependable employee and had an exceptional work ethic.

Leon adored his daughters and was so proud of his family. Through all of his health battles, the love of his life, Charlotte stayed by his side to care for him. His memory is honored by his wife, Charlotte Ward of Comstock; daughters, Corina (Bud) Zimmerman of Grand Island, Laura (David) Rhoads of Comstock; grandchildren, Levi and Lacy Rhoads; brothers, Leonard (Teri) Ward of St. Paul, Jack Ward of Grand Island; sister, Jonett Heznault of Grand Island; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Mike, Larry and Gary Lee; brother-in-law, Harry Heznault. Memorials are suggested to the family. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Leon N. Ward please visit our Sympathy Store.
