Obituary for Rilley J Nielsen Rilley Neilsen, 92, of Grand Island passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Rilley was born on January 25, 1926 in Grand Island, son of John and Bertha (Eggers) Nielsen. On May 18, 1946, Rilley married the love of his life and wife of 71 years, Joanne Lassen. To celebrate their 70th anniversary, Rilley and Joanne celebrated with their family on a Caribbean cruise.

Rilley graduated from Grand Island Senior High followed by serving the US Navy in WWII traveling 61,867 miles at sea in 2 yrs. He received his bronze star at the Engagement of Okinawa on Easter Sunday. Rilley traveled on two Honor flights to Washington DC and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Following his honorable discharge, Rilley attended Construction Estimating School with the aid of the GI Bill. 30 years ago, Rilley retired from a career in Commercial Estimating. Rilley always enjoying working with wood, traveling, playing cards and socializing.

He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist. Survived by his wife Joanne, children Tom (Lois) Nielsen of Grand Island, Connie Nielsen of Grand Island, Richard (Bruce Frasier) Nielsen of Omaha. 4 grand-children, 4 great-grandchildren.
