Obituary for James E. Walker James “Jim” E. Walker, 91 of Grand Island died Friday, October 26, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Reverend Marty Egging will officiate.

Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the US Navy and United Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time.

All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Jim was born March 30, 1927 at Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Maxwell and Mary (McHugh) Walker. He was raised in St. Paul, Nebraska graduating from St. Paul High School, class of 1944.

Jim was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Navy from 1945-46. On January 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Darleen Munnell in Broken Bow. Following Jim’s military service, the couple moved to Grand Island.

Jim was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone retiring following 38 years of service. Jim was a member of Blessed Sacrament, the Platt Duetsche and the American Legion. Some of his enjoyments included hunting, fishing, air boating and wood carving.

He loved time spent on the Loup River from childhood and throughout his adult life. Those left to cherish his memory include his children and their spouses, Robert and Debra Walker, James “Jim” and Kathie Walker, Peggy and Tom Stimson and Nancy Einspahr, all of Grand Island; grandchildren and their spouses, Cara and Phil Kuhl, Darci and Jeff Stafford, Matt Walker and Ryan Stimson; great-granddaughter, Mirielle Stafford; a sister, JoAnn Johnson of Walnut Creek, CA and his four-legged companion, Dixie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years when she passed, Darleen; two infant sons, Danny and Joey; a grandson, Max Walker and a son-in-law, Duane Einspahr.
