Obituary for Christian “Chris” Paulsen Christian E. “Chris” Paulsen, 92, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31st, at Messiah Lutheran Church. Reverend Dr. Robert Lewis will officiate.

Burial and committal will be at Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Chris was born July 6, 1926 in Grand Island the son of Chris and Johanna (Ettrup) Paulsen.

He grew up in Dannebrog and graduated from Dannebrog High School, class of 1943. Chris entered the United States Army on December 19, 1944, serving with the Asiatic Pacific Campaign during the Philippine Liberation, and was honorably discharged November 18, 1946. He then attended Grandview University of Des Moines, IA, but came home to help his father with the Farmer’s Union Cream Station.

He was united in marriage to Donna Jean Croisant on October 2, 1955. Over the years he was employed by Diers Motor Company and Roe Buick Inc., before becoming the owner and manager in 1973 of Paulsen’s Rite Way Service. He was 56-year member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Grand Island.

Also, a member of Dannebrog Michelson-Larkowski American Legion Post 241. Chris enjoyed card games with the family during holidays. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Platt Duetsche, Liederkrantz, Saddle Club and the Grand Generation Center.

Chris enjoyed being a part of the Honor Flight to Washington DC to see the WWII Memorial. Chris was a strong believer and he loved his God and his family. Those who will cherish his memory include his sons, Kevin Paulsen of Grand Island, Mark Paulsen of Marquette, MI, Troy Paulsen of Grand Island and Scott Paulsen of Grand Island; also, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 1988; his parents; and all five sisters, Helga Helzer, Erna Clark, Ann Stout, Alice Martin and Millie Engle.
