Obituary for John D Braun John D. Braun, 79, of Grand Island passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Celebration of life graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Grand Island City Cemetery. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

John was born on July 9, 1939 in Burk, SD, son of Gus and Emma (Horst) Braun. John completed the 8th grade in Burk. In 1966 he made his home in Grand Island where he was employed as a truck driver.

John enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. For many years, John lived and worked on a farm. He loved the freedom of the open road that came with driving semi-trucks and listening to country music.

He valued the time he spent with friends and family most of all. He is survived by his sister, Rose Crouse of Burk, SD; children, Melissa Combs of Lincoln, Nadine (Mark) Nichols of Wood River, Robert (Jacki) Miller of Alda, Tammy (Tad) Johnson of Bradshaw; ten grandkids and 18 great-grandkids. John was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife, Lucille Braun; son, David; one brother and two sisters.
