Obituary for R. Dean Wood R. Dean Wood, 81, of Central City passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Gathering of friends and family will being at 9.

Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Dean was born on December 12, 1936 at the family home in Central City, son of Walter and Argylle (Schulz) Wood. Dean grew up to appreciate the value of hard work and caring for the land as a farmer. He graduated from Alda in 1955.

Following high school, he began working for local farmers. On February 14, 1959, Dean married his lifelong sweetheart, Gertrude. They were soon able to realize Dean’s lifelong dream of owning their own farm.

Dean was a true caretaker of the land, he loved the peace that was brought by his hours on his Oliver tractors. He loved time spent with his family, telling stories and playing cards. Weekends were best spend dancing every song with Gertrude.

His legacy is cherished by his wife, Gertrude of Central City; children, Lisa Jensen of Cairo, Lori (Mike) Slater of Berthound, CO, Jim (Marcia) Wood of Clearwater, NE, John (Beth) Wood of Coleridge, NE, Jerry (Shae) Wood of Wood River, and Lynn Wood (Jeff Gannon) of Shelton; 25 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; special dog, Kelly; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, Dale, and Tom; and grandson, Jeremy Jensen. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
