Obituary for Shirley Kay McDaniel Shirley K. McDaniel, 71, of Grand Island passed on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday November 12th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Ministers Jerry Bady and Danny Jaekel will officiate.

Burial of ashes will be on Tuesday November 13th at 10 a.m. at Grand Island City Cemetery. Shirley was born on June 30, 1947 to Benjamin and Junette (Ihfe) Clement at Lexington, NE. the family then moved to North Platte in 1948.

She attended high school with the class of 1965 and in 1969 she received her GED. In 1990 she entered college and received her Associate of Arts Degree at Mid Plains Community College. She was employed for many years at the American Legion in North Platte as a waitress and bar tender.

Shirley was an extremely hard worker and dedicated her life to caring for her children as they grew. Her love for her granddaughters and great granddaughter was unsurpassed and spending time with them gave her immense joy. After retirement she moved to Grand Island to be closer to her children.

Shirley’s humor and kindness drew people to her and she never knew a stranger. She was an active Stolley Park Church of Christ member where she enjoyed bible studies and birthday gatherings. Her faith in God was the center of her life and she passionately shared his word.

Her memory is cherished by her children, Foster (Lorie) McDaniel of Kansas City, MO, Cynthia (Jay) Cochran of Grand Island, and Michael McDaniel of Two Rivers, WI; sisters, Claudette (Ron) Halsted of North Platte, and Kathy (Chris) Buechle of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Zach) Snow, Erica, Mya and Summer Kay; great granddaughter, Bella; step-grandchildren, Kyle and Harmoney along with numerous friends and extended family. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Kelley Zook-McDaniel. Memorials are suggested to Stolley Park Church of Christ.
