Obituary for Lucy Mae Mahoney Lucy Mae Mahoney, 80, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Lucy was born in Cedar Rapids, NE, on December 3, 1938, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Van De Walle) Schuele. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1956. In 1959 Lucy married Daniel Mahoney and they eventually settled in Grand Island in 1971.

She was employed at JC Penney’s downtown before starting at K-Mart in 1975, where she stayed for 25 years until she retired. After retirement she worked for Sears and recently Burlington Coat Factory. Lucy was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral.

She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing quilts, painting and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed traveling; two of her favorite locations were Estes Park and Albuquerque. Those who will cherish Lucy’s memory include her children, Timothy (Mary) Mahoney of St. Albans, VT, Susan (Shane) Purdy of San Diego, CA and Michelle (Russell) Klinetobe of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Lynn Gentry, Lea Mahoney, Daniel Purdy, Jeremy Purdy, Mallory Harben and Elizabeth Klinetobe; four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Paige, Leilani and Odin; brother, Al Schuele Jr. of Omaha; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Schuele of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel in 2004; her parents; two brothers, Paul and Richard; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Schuele.
