Obituary for Barbara Jo Sanders Barbara Jo (Milne) Sanders, 79, of Grand Island, died Monday, November 5, 2018 at CHI-Health St. Francis. Funeral services will be Friday, November 9, 2018, at 11 am, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 pm. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service at the Platt Deutsche. Jo was born on October 7, 1939, to Esca and Kathryn (Nuzman) Milne.

She was the third of four daughters. Jo was raised in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High. She was united in marriage to Gary Sanders on December 27, 1955.

This union was blessed with four children. Jo managed JoAnn Fabrics for many years before going to work for the cable company where she retired from in 1987. Jo was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Saddle Club, the Ladies Club at the Platt Deutsche, the Liederkranz, and her Tuesday Lunch Club.

As a wonderful seamstress, she often made clothing for her family. In her free time, she enjoyed playing poker, puzzles, crosswords, word searches, reading, and watching Wheel of Fortune. In grade school, Jo managed to read every book in the school library.

Those that will forever cherish her memory are her husband, Gary; children, Corey Jacobson of Grand Island, Doug (Lisa) Sanders of Grand Island, Kelly (Randy) Brown of Ankeny, IA, Jerry (Mary) Sanders of Lincoln; grandchildren, Justin Millhouse, Amy Koepke, Jake Sanders, Eric Sanders, Aubrey Brown, Morgan Lyon, Erica Sanders, and Tommy Sanders. Jo is also survived by a sister, Sue Kempkes; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a cousin; and multiple nieces and nephews. Jo was welcomed into heaven by her parents; two sisters, Ann Irvine and Jean Ely; and two sons-in-law, John Millhouse and Lee Jacobson.
