Obituary for Jeanie L. Verba Jeanie L. Verba, 70, of Grand Island passed away on November 1, 2018. Services to celebrate her compassion and love will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

A gathering will take place an hour prior to the service. Jeanie was born in Lincoln on December 29, 1947; after which she was welcomed into the home and hearts of Harold and Kathryn (Klos) Park. Jeanie was raised in Hastings, where she graduated in 1966 from Hastings Senior High.

On September 3, 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Vermaine Verba. The couple traveled the state following Vermaine’s job before making Grand Island their home in June 1974. Along with being a homemaker, Jeanie was a girl scout leader and served on the District 38 School Board.

Jeanie’s greatest joy was her family; being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Everything she did was for them. Jeanie had an amazing talent for making things.

She could sew, knit, quilt, craft, cook and bake, she also enjoyed having a large garden and canning everything from the vegetable garden. All of which she did for her family with love. She made clothes for her children while they were growing and even some for weddings, including girls’ wedding dresses.

She was also well known for her work in the kitchen. There was always plenty of delicious, homemade food for anyone who was at her home and coffee was always on, and she was famous for her Halloween popcorn balls. She loved Husker football and playing bingo on Sunday afternoons.

Jeanie’s unconditional love and cooking advice will be missed by her family. Jeanie is survived by her husband Vermaine; children, Susan Rustman (Bob Hook), Brian (Tammy) Verba, Karen (Tony) Griego, Darin (Elli) Verba, Robin (Jason) Hettler, Ryan (Jackie) Verba, John (Jennifer) Verba, Kristin Verba (Gene Hoffman), and Steven (Jessica) Verba; brother, Tom (Linda) Park; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; along with numerous extended family and friends.
