Obituary for Beverly “Bev” A. Thorne Beverly “Bev” A. Thorne, 90, died Friday September 28, 2018, At CHI-Health St. Francis. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate.

A private family burial will be prior to the service. Bev was born on August 3, 1928 in Fon du lac, WI, to Thomas and Vera (McKinnon) Connole. Bev grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High, where she was the homecoming queen in 1947 (Grand Island’s 3rd) and graduated in 1948.

On July 2, 1955, Bev was united in marriage to Jerry Thorne. The couple spent time in Lexington where they owned and operated a hotel; then moved to Hastings; then finally back to Grand Island in 1974. Here Bev was the personnel manager at Kmart for 24 years.

Bev enjoyed working in her yard, going to garage sales, and taking in any stray animal that happened to be in the area. Also, the love of her own cats. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Terry (Rita) Thorne of Lexington, Traci Buettner of Grand Island, Linda Grape of Columbus, Matt (Michelle) Thorne of Grand Island; grandchildren, Brett (Kelly) Buettner, Brady (Kristen) Buettner, Lynnsey (Thad) Watchorn, Cole Thorne, Chase Grape, Mikayla Thorne; great grandchildren, Haily & Gabe Grape, Schuyler Eatherton; numerous nieces and nephews; and honorary grandchildren, Ricky Eckhart, and Zach Eckhart.

Bev was welcomed into heaven by her husband, parents, and brother, Thomas Connole. A memorial fund will be established in Bev’s memory. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Beverly “Bev” A. Thorne please visit our Sympathy Store.
