Obituary for Cara Jean Russell Cara Jean Russell, 53, of Grand Island passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, surrounded by her family. Memorial service and celebration of Cara’s life will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service.

Interment will be in Orleans Cemetery, Orleans, NE. Cara was born April 10, 1965 in Grand Island, the daughter of Donald Whelan and Charlene (Gress) Whelan. She grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High School.

On June 29, 1990 Cara married Keven Lee Russell. They made their home and raised their children in Grand Island. Cara enjoyed volunteering for the Grand Generation Center.

She loved to cook and taught her children to be strong, kind, treat others how you would like to be treated and to accept people for who they are. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish Cara’s memory include her father, Donald Whelan and stepmother, Diane; her mother, Charlene Hauman; children, Shannon (Keith) Kaarstad of Lincoln, Keven (Kayla) Russell of Topeka, KS, Levi Russell of Lincoln and Faith Jolkowski of Omaha; step-daughters, Laura (Rene) Cazares of SD and Jennifer Burks of Lincoln; eleven beloved grandchildren, Keegan Whelan, Christian Pallard, DeShawn Burks, Lillyanna Cazares, Malaya Burks, Ellie Cazares, Koen Kaarstad, KinzlieJo Kaarstad, Niko Cazares, Kyerin Russel and Enzo Cazares; sister, Sue (Ken) Jolkowski of Grand Island; step-sisters, Brenda Saldecki of Grand Island, Tammy (Brad) Williams of Doniphan and stepbrother, Kenny Whelan of Doniphan; lifetime friend, Rose Welch; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keven; sister, Betty Jo McComb; stepfather, Richard Hauman; and niece, Shayla Pier. Memorials are suggested to Third City Community Clinic, 1107 N Broadwell Ave. , Grand Island, NE 68803.
