Michael was born on September 13, 1971 in Fort Morgan, CO, son of Robert C. Garcia Sr. and Luciana “Lucy” (Guerrero) Garcia. Michael’s family moved to Grand Island early in his life. He found home in the Grand Island community, graduating from high school and loving being close to family and lifelong friends.
On October 7, 2006 he was united in marriage to Tammy Cassell. Michael was a skilled welder for many years and most recently employed by Hornady Manufacturing. Michael aka “Beatz” was passionate about his music and his family.
Mike spoke his mind and was fiercely loyal to those lucky enough to be family. He always kept his word and could be relied on to lend help when asked. Mike had natural rhythm, leading him to play the drums in several bands over the years the most recent being Final Round.
It wasn’t only playing music that Mike loved, he looked for the true meaning of the lyrics. Michael had a beautiful voice that he was discovering and had just begun sharing with others. Mike’s love of Husker football was only surpassed by his love of his dogs, Saphira and Harley.
Those left to carry on his beat include his father and step mother, Robert C. (Vicenta) Garcia Sr. of Grand Island; brothers, Robert C. (Neyra) Garcia Jr. of Grand Island, Joseph I. (Tina) Garcia of Omaha, and Sonny G. Garcia of Grand Island; sister, Paula M. (Gregorio) Gomez of Columbus; his best friend and love of his life, Jamie Martin; their boys, Brayden and Brock Hurley. Mike adored all of his nieces and nephews, and he shared an extraordinary bond with his nephew, Justin. Even though he never had children of his own they all were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Luciana; grandparents, Meliton and Paula Guerrero; and friend/brother-in-law, Myron Cassell. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Michael “Mike” A Garcia please visit our Sympathy Store.
