Obituary for Dale K. Grim Dale K. Grim, 87, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on October 27, 2018 at Central City Care Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Bremer will officiate.

Military honors will be rendered by the United Veteran’s Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Private family internment will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog at a later date.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family Dale was born in Dannebrog on October 1, 1931, the son of Lemuel F. and Elta (Lingford) Grim and one of thirteen children. Dale grew up in Dannebrog where he attended school until age 14. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 17, 1952, and served in Korea as an army medic until his honorable discharge in May of 1954.

He received his GED while serving his country. Dale was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nellie Abood, on June 27, 1954. They were blessed with three children and 64 years together.

Dale continued in medicine employed as a medic at Cornhusker Ammunition Plant, the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, Lutheran Hospital and St. Francis Hospital. He achieved his professional goal when he was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician for the City of Grand Island and Hall County from 1968 to 1976. After retiring from the ambulance, he was the District Manager of the Omaha World Herald, and he and Nellie managed motels in Nebraska, Missouri and Wyoming.

Dale was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW, a volunteer at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, the Central Nebraska Motor Assist Program, St. Francis Medical Center, a boy scout leader and a Teammate mentor. He loved to fish and take people out to eat. He is survived by his wife Nellie Grim; his children Jo Ann Bjorkman of Aurora, James and Sully Grim of Oviedo, FL, and Lynn and Jon Rath of Lincoln; his grandchildren Mandy Bjorkman Hilsabeck (Ben), Eric Bjorkman (Michelle), Joshua Grim, Natalie Grim, Shannon Meguire, Grant Kolar, Jaime Rath and Jill Rath; his great grandchildren Timothy, Alexandra, and Sierra Bjorkman, Ayden Hilsabeck, Trent Taylor, Dax Meguire, and Hannah Callahan; his sister-in-law Joyce Grim of Dannebrog and brother-in-law Doyle Wohlers of Lebanon, OR.

; along with many nieces and nephews. Dale was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and their spouses: Lucille and Charlie Fox, Ruth and Bob Rinehart, Verna Wohlers, Audrey, Clyde, Verne, Dean, Ray and Alena Grim, Arnold and Elaine Grim, Leonard and Betty Grim, Melvin and Alice Grim, and George and Betty Grim.
