Obituary for Lester Hensley Lester Hensley, 70, of Murphysboro, passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Lester was born May 29, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY. Lester was a U.S Army veteran and served as an X-Ray specialist in the medical corp.

He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the SIU-Edwardsville School of Business and had a career of over twenty years as an independent insurance agent. Before his retirement, he continued his love of travel as a long-haul truck driver. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service and supper will be held at New Life Tabernacle Church on Tuesday, January 16 at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Murphysboro Food Pantry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Julia Hensley, and his brother Robert Hensley. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janelle and Allan Leafblad of Livermore, CA; two grandsons, Tristan and Nate Leafblad; one brother and partner, Timothy Hensley and J. A. Dill of Bradenton, FL; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and John Peebles of Gainesville, FL; a niece and nephew, Leslie Ann Nordstrom and Jonny Peebles; and two grand-nieces.
