Obituary for Lloyd “Mac” Emge Lloyd McCleary “Mac” Emge, 70, of Owensville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 26, 2018. Mac was born on August 24, 1948 in Evansville to the late Lloyd O. Emge and the late Joyce (McCleary) Emge Horn. Mac was a 1966 graduate of Fort Branch Community High School where he lettered in basketball, baseball, and football.

He attended Kentucky Wesleyan College before enlisting in the Army where he was assigned to veterinary service at Ft. Sill, OK and Ft. Sam, Houston, TX.

In 1970, Mac was honorably discharged from the Army. Upon his return to Indiana, Mac began his long career of training and racing standard bred horses. True to his nature, whether alone, or with friends, Mac’s church was “the Great Outdoors”.

This is where he felt closest to God. As an avid sportsman, Mac loved hunting, fishing, and training bird dogs. He was a long-time member of many wildlife and hunting organizations.

Mac spent most weekends competing in field trials with his beloved pointers, setters, and short hairs. He was an experienced marksman and through the years received multiple awards. Mac is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jenny (Pegram); 3 daughters, Melissa (Mike) Beverly of Newburgh, IN; Jolynn (Steve) Maloney, Henderson, KY; and Sarah Ravellette, Evansville, IN.

Mac had a keen sense of humor and was always pulling pranks on his seven grandchildren. Lovingly referred to as “Popper,” by: Isaac, Kellen, and Isabella Beverly; Alex and Chase Maloney; and Nola and Samuel McCleary Ravellette. Two sisters: Ann (Emge) Northern of Louisville, KY; Jill (Emge) Harris of San Rafael CA; one brother Peter Emge of Evansville IN; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that are far too numerous to list, but were very special to Mac.
