Lloyd’s Obituary Lloyd W. Gayler, 81 of rural Holden, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Wayne was born August 6, 1937 in Rock Port, Missouri. He worked on the family farm in Rock Port, Missouri until he decided to move to Delta, Colorado in 1955 where he graduated from Delta high school in the same year.

He then attended Tarkio College and graduated in 1957 with a degree in accounting followed by him moving back to help on the family farm. He met his future wife, Alice, which then married in July 19, 1964 in Fairfax, Missouri. Wayne and his family moved to Springdale, Arkansas, in 1967 when he worked for Miller Construction for 10 years.

In 1977 they moved to Loveland, Colorado until 1985 where he worked commercial construction on schools, banks, and churches, which led the family back to Blue Springs, Missouri and then to Holden in 1992. He and his son, Steve, started their carpenter business in 1990 where they did trimming on new homes and motels in the western Missouri area until he retired in 2008. Up until his death he was a devoted member of Grover Park Baptist Church.

In all the areas that Wayne lived in he was a devoted member of churches serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and taking part in bible studies. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, and miscellaneous projects around the house. Survivors include his wife, Alice Gayler; son: Steve Gayler of Holden, MO; three brothers: Harold Dean “Butch” Gayler (Sheleen) of Ozark, MO; Marlin Gayler (Sherry) of Rock Port, MO; and Joe Gayler (Teresa) of Rock Port, MO; One sister: Diane Davis (Floyd) of Union, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy “Pete” and Pearl Gayler; sister: Beverly Ann Gayler; sister in law: Jane Gayler; nephew: Tony Gayler; sister in law: Sandy Campbell; brother in law: David Campbell; in laws: Mansel and Hazel Campbell; and many other relatives. Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Dr. Randall Neal officiating.
