Timothy’s Obituary Timothy Markwell “Timmy” Lakey, 57, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Western Missouri Medical Center. Timmy was born on December 22, 1961, in Warrensburg, MO, the son of Reed Lakey and Katherine Guthridge Lakey. He graduated from Warrensburg High School in the class of 1980.

He was co-owner of his own trucking company for over 35 years. He loved being a truck driver, and he especially enjoyed seeing the beautiful countryside of Alaska and Colorado. He liked target practice and collecting hunting gear.

He was happy to hunt deer, but always had a dream to go moose hunting. He lived in St. Joseph, Missouri for over 20 years, but moved back to Warrensburg to be closer to his family. He had a giving heart and could easily brighten your day with a joke or a funny story.

Timmy is survived by his brothers, Bill Lakey (wife Pam) and Jeff Lakey (wife Sue), all of Warrensburg, MO; nephews, Jeff Lakey, James Lakey, B.J. Lakey, and Benjamin Lakey; niece, Jennifer Lakey; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Katherine. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Contributions may be made to the family, with checks made payable to Jeff Lakey. Donations can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
