Obituary for Loretta Smith (Taylor) Loretta Lee Taylor Smith, age 70, of Hudson, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Catawba Hospice and Palliative Care in Hickory, NC. She was born April 15, 1948 in Ashe County daughter of the late Samuel Lee Taylor and Myrtle Miller Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Richard Smith, a son, Steven Smith, a brother, Raymond Little and three sisters, Linda Philyaw, Pamela Fowler and Martha Schanable.
Mrs. Smith was an employee of Century Furniture and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She loved her grand and great-grandchildren and crossword puzzles. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Tony Hancock of Hudson and Clinton Hancock (Tammy) also of Hudson; a daughter Becky Scott of Hudson; step-children, Richard Smith (Faye) of Lenoir, John Smith (Thersea) of Iredell, Becky Richards of Lenoir, David Smith (Tammy) of Lenoir; four sisters, Shirley Plott of Statesville, Patricia Miller (Timothy) of TN, Rosealee Miller (Billy Dean) of Wilkesboro, Donnie Fullington (Horace)of Conover and three brothers, Jerry Taylor (Lisa) of Lenoir, Larry Taylor (Linda), and Ray Taylor (Marie) of Florida.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Mackie Funeral Home, Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be at Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM with Rev.
Gene Gouge and Rev. Tony Eller officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
