Obituary for Lucy Claudette Landrum Lightsey Lucy Claudette (Landrum) Lightsey, 84, of Sandersville passed away in her second home, Archer’s Personal Care Home on November 6, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Sandersville Baptist Church on Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at the church at 12 noon. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Reverend Donnie Parker will officiate. Born January 18, 1934 in Newton County, she graduated valedictorian of Sandersville High School in 1952 where she met her husband of 61 years, Pat Lightsey. Claudette was an active member of the Sandersville Woman’s Club and Jones County Republican Women.

Mrs. Lightsey was a math teacher at several county schools including Powers Elementary, South Jones, Northeast Jones and Sandersville Elementary and served as a secretary at Glade Elementary. She was a member of Sandersville Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School director and other roles since 1962. “Dette” to her friends, “Nannie” to her family and “Lucy” only to her husband, she was quietly competitive, as strong willed as she was understanding and filled with enough compassion to extend love to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Claudette is preceded in death by her baby brother and wife Reggie and Sue Landrum of Colorado, her husband Pat, her parents Clyde and Doxie Landrum and infant grandson, Rocky Gray. She is survived by her older brother Ronald Landrum (Clarice) of Tennessee, four children Mike Lightsey (Lea) of Sandersville, Cyndi Myers (Shawn) of Dekalb, Tim Lightsey (Becky) of Oaxaca, Mexico and Stan Lightsey of Sandersville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren Keri Padgett (Ryan), Kris Lightsey (Brandy), Wendy Walters (John), Wesley Gray (April), Amber Fletcher (Kevin), Allen Lightsey (Yvonne), Jacob Lightsey, Craig Sollid and Brandon Lightsey, along with 11 great-grandchildren: Jaylen, Kaden, Karsen, Kooper, Hannah Kate, Layla, Logan, Addison, Luke, Annie and Rylie.

Her family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dottie Archer and her staff for providing a special home for Nannie for the last few years and always treating her like family.
