Margaret Sams Potter, age 92, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from her residence. Margaret was born in Carter County to the late William “Jennings” Sams and Maude Russell Sams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Potter; a daughter, Debra Star Potter; two sons, Harley Gene Potter and John William Potter; three sisters; and two brothers.

Margaret was a homemaker. She was a member of Hampton Free Will Baptist Church and will be missed by her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Janet Sue Rouse and husband John, Patricia Ann Morton and Pamala Lynn Ward and husband Raymond, all of Elizabethton and Regina Lee Smith and husband J.D., of Hampton; eighteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Kaye Baumgardner Potter, of Hampton.

A service to celebrate the life of Margaret Sams Potter will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. James Holmes, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday. The graveside service will follow in the Old Horseshoe Cemetery (Wilbur Dam Road).
