Obituary of Marie Favorito Maria Rita ‘Marie’ Favorito was reunited with her recently deceased husband Alfonso and her other family and friends in heaven on Sunday, April 15th, 2018. Marie was born in the Bronx on September 28th, 1937 to her parents Michael Pezzullo and Virgina Bruno Pezzullo. She was the third of four siblings (Jenny Burgio, Candy Walsh and Virginia Schneider) and grew up as part of a very close knit family.

Marie married Alfonso, a boy from the neighborhood, upon his return from the Korean War. Marie was a devoted wife to Alfonso for 58 years, a loving mother to her two children Teresa Siley (with her husband Rick Siley) of Pearl River, NY and Felix Favorito (with his wife Theresa Purtell Favorito) of Cornwall, NY, and a beloved grandmother to her four grandchildren Christopher, Gabrielle, Nicole and Alexa, all of whom she was most proud. Marie volunteered and then worked at Strawtown Elementary School in the Clarkstown Central School District for over 30 years caring for the children and enjoying wonderful friendships.

Marie was a very caring person. A woman of few words, she was involved in the lives of so many. She was a member of the West Nyack Senior Citizens Club, taught CCD at St. Francis of Assisi Church preparing many children for their First Holy Communion, was a member of the Prayer Shawl group, the Ladies Guild and was a Girl Scout leader.

She also had a love for sports and could regularly be found in attendance at her children’s, grandchildren’s or friend’s competitions and events. She had a passion for knitting and crocheting blankets and sweaters for all of the babies in her life. She was also an avid fan of Knicks and Yankees, but held a special place in her heart for her Mets.

She will be waked Wednesday, April 18th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc., 728 West Nyack Road in West Nyack, NY (845) 358 – 4433 www. sorcefuneralhome.com The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 19th, at the 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 Parrott Road, West Nyack, New York. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to a charity of your choosing.
