Obituary of Matthew Gedeiko . Matthew Anthony Gedeiko Sr. “Buzzy” passed from us on April 30, 2018. He was born on July 4th 1942 to Anthony and Ruth Gedeiko in Hudson, New York.

He moved to Piermont, New York in 1953 where he grew in to the amazing man we all knew and loved. Buzzy’s days were spent playing football with his buddies and working on his cars. He became well known for his yellow Oldsmobile, then his Corvettes which he would drag race through town and up the Palisades Parkway.

It was at his 21st birthday party where he met the love of his life, Elaine Marie Koller. They were married September 26, 1964. Three months later when Elaine told him they were expecting their first child, Buzzy said “it was time to get his shit together” and he started his business, Yaboo Fence Co. Buzzy and Elaine went on to have two more children, who then blessed them with ten grandchildren.

In these kids he instilled his strong work ethic and his incredible love of family. In the 70’s, he and Elaine bought property in the Adirondack’s and started building the Big Cabin. The Big Cabin became Pop’s passion.

It was here that he taught his kids how to work and how to play. He loved spending time building a place where he knew his entire family would spend time together. It was here that he taught his grandchildren he was a better fisherman than all of them.

His later years were spent working on his home and blackfishing with Elaine. His larger than life personality will be missed by all, especially his wife, his son, Matt Jr., daughter Lynette, son, Joseph, daughter in laws, Michele and Courtney, son in law Albert and all of his grandchildren, Jesse, Sophia, Casey, Joe, Albie, Allie, Michael, Smiley and Johnny. We know he has his granddaughter, Anna by his side and he’s teaching her how to fish.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Deenya and her husband, his good friend, Bill Soman. Wake services will be held at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. Thursday May 3, 2018 from 7-9pm and Friday May 4, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catharines RC Church, Blauvelt, NY on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 10am, burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

In Pop’s honor we ask that you all hold your family members a little bit closer. Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, Inc. 728 West Nyack Road West Nyack, NY 10994 (845)358-4433 www.
