Obituary of Marilyn Eaton Marilyn Ann Denman Eaton, age 87, Jonesboro, went Home to the Father’s House on November 20, 2018. Marilyn was born on January 29, 1931, in Anderson to Ralph Vogen and Maymie Beatrice (Roberts) Denman. She attended Anderson schools and graduated in 1948 from Bexley High School, Bexley, OH.

She married her sailor boy, love of her life, Robert Lyle Eaton, on December 13, 1953, in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Summitville. He survives, as do their three children: Ladonna Ann Eaton Smith (Paul), John Robert Eaton (Lynda), and David Lyle Eaton (Janice). Also surviving is her brother, Thomas Dean Denman (Carol), as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brother, William Bruce Denman. Marilyn was employed as a secretary at Anderson Mattress Co., Anderson, Avionics Div. , Naval Air Station, San Diego, CA, and Chrysler Corp.

, Kokomo. She volunteered as a church secretary, Den Mother, and Den Mother Coach. She was very active in the United Methodist Women’s Society for both Jonesboro United Methodist and New Hope United Methodist churches, serving in various office positions.

She was blessed by her Christian journey and was baptized at Jonesboro Methodist Church by Rev. Walter Crosby. She was also an active member in the New Hope United Methodist and Gas City United Methodist churches.

For 12 years she served as a lay member to the United Methodist Church’s Annual Conference. Marilyn loved gardening and, for 55 years, oversaw the vegetable production, landscaping, and floral displays on their large homestead in west Jonesboro. More recently, she was well-known locally for the row of zinnias that annually had to be seeded along the street where the old garden used to grow.

She also was active in researching family genealogy, the Region 5 Holiday Rambler Club, and activities at South Shore Resort, Lake Wales, FL, where she and Lyle spent their winters. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018, at First United Methodist Church Of Gas City, 213 E. S. A St., with Pastor Robyn Axle-Adams officiating.

There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park in Anderson. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Committee on Relief or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Ste. 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
